Mario Rolando Toro Araneda, creator of System Biodanza, has been an educator, psychologist, anthropologist, poet and painter.
He has dedicated his life to enhancement of life, of the other and the beauty world, trying to integrate these elements in people's lives.

Rolando Toro Araneda, creator of System Biodanza, has been an educator, psychologist, anthropologist, poet and painter.
Nato Conception (Chile) the 19 April 1924 and died on 16 February 2010 in Santiago, Chile, the Professor Toro held Chair of Psychology of Art and Expression Institute of Aesthetics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.

E’ state lecturer at the Centre for Studies in Medical Anthropology School of Medicine University of Chile.

The experiences of research

Come professor of the Center for Medical Anthropology has carried out research on “Expressions of the unconscious“, “Art of the origins” and the states of “Expansion of consciousness“.

He was also appointed Professor Emeritus Interamerican Open University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Dottore Honoris Causa University of Paraiba (Brazil).

Rolando Toro, still young, was part of the 'Research Institute of the Psychiatric Hospital of Santiago where he experimented with different techniques with the patients with the goal of "humanize medicine”; introduced exercises with music and dance and its observations on patients could observe the induction of different perceptions of body and self-awareness.

These early experiences formed the basis for the construction of Theoretical Model the discipline that was slowly taking shape concrete operational.

In 1970, was asked to Rolando Toro to create the first chair of "Psicodanza", first name which was given to the method that was creating.

 

Origin of Biodanza

The first experience that gave rise to the Biodanza were carried out by Professor Toro in the 50s', as a result of joint research on the effects of music and movement on wellness and lifestyle.

For more than sixty years, from its research in medical anthropology, he carried out studies in different areas of knowledge in order to give this "discipline" a consistent practice that rests on a solid theoretical basis drawn from biology in general and also, especially, by ethology and neurophysiology.

In the last years of his life, without ever abandoning the teaching of Biodanza, he did with tireless passion, he has dedicated himself to the project of’Biocentric Education, with the creation of three centers used, and to poetry.
